A look back at a record-breaking year and our roadmap for a sustainable 2026.
The dust has settled on the Leicester GT, marking the completion of the 2025 calendar year of events. As we look back, it is impossible not to feel immense pride in this community.
This year, the Warhammer 40k scene didn’t just grow and evolved. From first-time attendees making up 20–30% of our average events, to the event veterans, you have helped build something truly special. Together, we set a new world record at the LGT, becoming the first 40k event in history to host nearly 1,100 players and claiming the title of the world's biggest 40k tournament.
Our Commitment to Quality
Since our inception, our mission has been simple: to host the biggest events in the world, but more importantly, to provide the most professional and high-quality player experience possible.
We have always strived to balance this quality with accessibility. Our goal has been to keep prices low enough to welcome everyone, yet sustainable enough to allow us to set the standard that other global events strive to emulate.
The Reality of the Current Landscape
To maintain the standard you expect, and deserve, we must be transparent about the challenges facing the events industry.
Over the last three years, the economic landscape has shifted dramatically. We have absorbed significant cost increases to keep ticket prices stable for as long as possible, including:
Venue Costs: These have risen by over 50%.
Infrastructure: The cost to hire tables and chairs has more than doubled.
Player Experience Investments: We have launched major initiatives like UKTC.tv and the UKTC Judge Programme, both of which cost over £50k annually to operate but are vital for the integrity and visibility of the game.
Investing in 2026 and Beyond
To continue investing in the future of 40k and to ensure our events continue to raise the bar, we will be implementing a price adjustment for the 2026 season.
From February 1st, ticket prices will move from £60 to £75 (please note this may vary slightly across different game systems).
This was not a decision taken lightly, but it is a necessary step to ensure the long-term health of the hobby in the UK. This adjustment will allow us to directly fund improvements you will see on the tabletop, including:
Terrain Upgrades: Replacing 9x3 and 5x5 base plates with higher quality, durable materials.
Refurbishment: A comprehensive refresh of our existing terrain sets.
Referee Programme Expansion: We are rolling out UKTC-trained referees across the country. This will help local scenes and RTTs grow, raising the standard of competitive play at every level.
Future-Proofing: With the 11th Edition on the horizon, we are building the reserves necessary to adapt quickly to any changes the new edition requires.
An Opportunity to Lock in Current Prices
We understand that January can be a financially awkward time of year and that times are tough for many. We want to give our community as much notice as possible so you can plan ahead.
We are holding all tickets at their current 2025 prices until January 31st.
If you are planning to join us in 2026, we strongly encourage you to lock in your ticket before the end of the month to secure the lower rate.
Thank You
While price changes are never desirable, we hope you agree that they are necessary to maintain the ecosystem we have built together. We are incredibly excited about the plans we have for the coming year and look forward to seeing you at an event very soon.
We hope you have a wonderful festive season filled with family and 40k, and a very Happy New Year.
Sincerely,
Zachary Becker,
UKTC Founder.
