The Windsor Super-Major: Faction Breakdown

List submissions are locked and revealed now for the upcoming Windsor Super-Major, the first of many new debut events for the UKTC 2026 season. We can take a first look at what people have brought and how the overall meta is shaping up.

With nearly 250 players signed up and most having submitted their factions we get a good first look.

At a Glance

Space Marines remain the most popular faction, dominating the field as their own faction - accounting for over 20% of the field when you include the non codex compliant chapters.

The Necrons see a plummet from their popularity at Manchester, in a joint 2nd-5th post popular factions alongside Tau, Dark Angels, and Chaos Daemons.

Big Bodies and bigger guns

The top 5 factions all specialise in one of two things, leaning heavily into durability or into output, and often times both. The Space Marines and Dark Angels pack plenty of punch and elite infantry to hold the objectives with strong melee prowess able to take the fight up close and personal.

Wheras the Daemons and Necrons can easily take it down the other route - a few very hard to shift large pieces in the powerful C'tan and Greater Daemons, these high toughness and wound models with access to good invulnerable saves often time asks a stat check that the opponents can't answer.

Both styles still make sure to bring the damage, with Doomsday arks beings staples from the Necrons and the repulsor executioner or vindicators providing very strong answers to the Greater daemon/C'tan stat line.

The Tau

The rest of the top 5 don't feel all that surprising, with the exception of the Tau empire. Although they have seen good results in recent times, have never seen much popularity. They are well set for the current meta, with very strong board control and consistent damage allowing them to go toe to toe with the bigger threats. Both using the OC and chip damage into the larger targets.

factions to watch

We also see some other factions gain some popularity with Tyranids, World Eaters, and Adepta Sororitas seeing more choices than recent events, they are good choices with the Tyranids and Sisters having good flexibility and adaptability into the wider field. Wheras the disciples of Khorne able to leverage their speed and pressure across the terrain.

Specialist Factions

We see, as always a few brave souls sticking to their faction through all power levels. The Genestealer Cults, Grey Knights, Chaos Knights, Deathwatch, and Agents looking to leverage their skill and potential knowledge gap with 2 players apiece. We have consistently seen faction specialsm be a deciding factor for good runs in a tournament. We will have to see if this trend remains through the Windsor Super-Major.
