The latest installment of the International Teams Tournament Series is nearly here, just a few days until the Spring ITT kicks off and we are so excited. Pairing is now live and everybody has seen that round one. We know exactly which teams are at the event and who is bringing what. In this post we're going to take a look at a few of my picks to win the event.

A Quick Refresher
Let's take a quick look at the overall meta first and we can see continuing trends here.
Necrons, Marines , and Tau remain very popular and are still causing a lot of problems with their oppressive play styles if they get first turn and first drop.
This will absolutely have impacted what teams are going to bring and how they plan to play for it, especially with the latest Space Marine Detachment able to deliver some crippling alpha strikes.
Now lets take a look at some of the teams I think will look to do well this weekend
Team Sigil
Team Sigil are no surprise to have in this list. They are regularly performing and making top cuts at our events notably coming second in the winter ITT, falling to the Swedes, Team Viesla. It is no surprise we have a very stacked roster of players here looking to bring a very interesting team comp to bear.
Chris Cho | Space Marines (Astartes) |
Samuel Martin | Adeptus Mechanicus |
Vincent Stein | Emperor's Children |
Mickey Baird-Parker | Chaos Space Marines |
Gustavo José Branco Varandas de Sousa | Astra Militarum |
The team is fielding a fairly strong lineup of the popular factions. They have Space Marines, Astra Militarum, and Chaos Space Marines, three of the most represented factions at the event, but also two very specialist factions as well.
Samuel Martin returns with his Adeptus Mechanicus, a faction that is known for its complexity and power in teams able to control a lot of the board with its primary.
Vincent takes a slight detour away from his Orks but still remains on a melee pressure army with those Empress Children, looking to utilize the speed and the firepower from that faction to duel out across the boards and look to put up some big wins this weekend.
I think I would describe this comp as pressure, pressure, and more pressure. All of these factions have the ability to completely dominate the board, with the Space Marines, Emperor's Children, and Chaos Space Marines able to deliver some punishing alpha strikes.
Astra Militarum is playing a little bit more of a board control with the Adeptus Mechanicus as well and looking to get some very favorable pairings into the Emperor's Children. The Space Marines will be how sigil are looking to leverage big wins and push the differential.
6++ Alpharius
One of the most well-known teams and communities within the UKTC. We have 6++.
this is a team that pulls no punches, some of the biggest names in 40k and their team are well known within the community and regularly perform exceptionally well at our events. Let's take a look at their comp.
Alex Fowler | Astra Militarum |
Ed Watts | Chaos Daemons |
Harley Scully | Chaos Space Marines |
Tom Green | Orks |
Tom Lowman | Leagues of Votann |
once again we see two very strong factions being represented here, with the Astrum Militarum and the Chaos Space Marines, both able to dominate board control as well as the Orks although a little bit more specialist there.
then we have two very specialist factions:
Ed Watts on the Chaos Demons.
Tom Lowman on the LoVotan.
Fielding some very unique capabilities and play styles that will be able to, if paired, push for some really big wins and look to control the flow of the game. I expect that we will see the Astra Militarum and Orks looking to blunt a lot of the problems with the Chaos Demons and Space Marines looking to push up there as well. Wotan is playing a fairly standard middling game into most of the field, able to get small wins or draws out of a large swath of the factions that they are likely to face.
Fire And Dice - Targaryen
Finally, let's take a look at one of the strongest teams by rankings. The average placing on this team is 89.8 and this makes them one of the strongest teams at the event.
That is before we even consider the fact that many of these players are not only well known but are playing their signature factions.
Hristo Nikolov | Tyranids |
Samuel 🌌🛠 Smith | Chaos Space Marines |
Euan Bedford-Cooper | Death Guard |
Denis 🤖 🦾 Naberezhnykh | Necrons |
Byron 🔥🎲 Sidhu | Chaos Daemons |
We see a recurring theme here with Chaos Demons once again and Chaos Space Marines. All of the teams we've picked so far have those Chaos Space Marines in there. Looking to leverage the new Defilers and Huron Marauders detachments and datasheets that have come out recently, providing a very good answer to a lot of the meta.
There's a bit of a more traditional blunting approach that we see here: the Tyranids, Death Guard, and Necrons (to an extent) are all exceptional at limiting scores and stopping their opponents running all over the games.
With the CSM and the Chaos Demons looking to push up and build those differentials as required. I think we see a very unique lineup here that a lot of teams will not have prepared for and can certainly play on the varying boards at the event with great success.
